RFQ (Request for Quotations)

A method used for low-value purchases of readily available goods, works or services. The buyer asks a shortlist of providers for quotations rather than running a full open bidding process.

For a small supplier this is the most winnable kind of notice: the paperwork is lighter and large firms rarely chase them.
